A Tribute to Echo!

Posted on: November 7, 2008

If you are an IT professional (by wish or by chance!..that’s a different matter 🙂 ) or you have a friend in this area, then you must be very much familiar with the swings, dings and flings of his/her day-to-day life meandering around projects, coding, testing etc etc. But its not like that always, I mean projects can be interesting also if we get a right mix of people in our team and the work is interesting and challenging.

‘Echo’ was a project of this kind and so when it finally got over, I thought of penning down the journey of the project and to give a tribute to my team!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

A Tribute to Echo…

I wondered whether Echo would see ‘Production’ day,
But gone are the days when I used to sway,
As it is very much in ‘Production’ keeping all issues at bay!

With Debasish, Sushil & Kahkasha at the helm,
And tough leadership of Simanta, Sandeep & Roni like an elm,
Echo managed to reach and breathe in ‘Production’ realm!

Siva and Albert with their experience and financial prowess,
Ali, Ramesh, Samir, Zeba, Pushkar & Santosh with their technical finesse,
Strengthened the team in a wonderful way I should confess!

China team with their dedication and quality contribution,
Shrikant struggling with Aventx but overcoming its tribulations,
Pushkar challenging workflows but not at the cost of his cherished weekend
vacations!

With Informatica validations giving Oracle a true vanguard,
And Jiten, Augustine & Rutu running with us yard by yard,
Completed the team in true sense and emerged as our trump card!

SITs and UATs giving every time a bone-chill,
New requirements adding their own thrill,
Couldn’t really waiver the team’s indomitable will!

With our testing tool Mercury doodling defects galore,
And every passing day of testing looking like days of yore,
Really catapulted Echo interfaces to become robust for every downpour!

All those strenuous code migrations from E1 to F1 to S1 to R1,
Looked like a teacher asking his students to stand whole day in sun,
But then these only helped us in final cutover like a battle won!

All those night shifts with their additional hangovers,
Copics sending the batches but their oracle hop-overs,
Finally culminated in the success of team’s maneuvers!

Now appreciation mails pouring into our inbox,
And last days of our project ticking to end in our clock,
I wonder whether we would get Echo-2 in our block!!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

PS…Incidentally this piece of poetry found place in my company magazine. Although its full of project specific jargons but still I felt to share it with you all….

You have truly summarized this Huge Project [which sadly still continues 😦 ] in ‘Tribute to ECHO’.

Fortunately(or Unfortunately), I am one of the Team Members of Project ECHO…

and I might write a blog titled ‘No more ECHO’, soon 😉
